If you need to give it a name, then give it one.

Two people sharing earphones, one laughing, the other with their head bowed.

If you need to give it a name, then give it one.

See it however you wish.

All she ever wanted was someone to love wholeheartedly.

And a shoulder to rest on when life became heavy.

If you called her your sister, she was grateful.

If you called her your friend, she was grateful.

She never loved with an agenda.

Her intentions were as pure as her heart.

Loyalty came naturally.

Honesty came effortlessly.

She never wanted more than what was freely given.

Nor did she wish to take advantage of anyone’s affection.

She had the courage to let people into her heart.

And the wisdom to close the door when they chose to break it.

She loved deeply.

She simply chose not to name it.

Because names carry expectations.

Responsibilities.

Sometimes even limitations.

And she knew how easily relationships change the moment we begin defining them.

So she waited.

Until naming it felt as true as the love itself.
